CJAM takes Corporate Social Responsibility seriously – being a small company doesn’t mean we can shirk our obligations. We are cogniscent of the business’s impact on society and the environment, and acknowledge the importance of making a positive contribution by operating ethically and with transparency in all matters.

Our Corporate Social Responsibility strategy encompasses our local community and environment, employees and workplace, customers and marketplace..

Community

CJAM offered its marketing services for free to Colchester Cancer Centre, creating the artwork for a series of ten posters for an advertising fundraising campaign which was launched at the House of Commons by Will Quinn MP and senior hospital directors.

The business also sponsors a local children’s football team and the Essex Business Awards and donates raffle prizes for local events.

Volunteering and fundraising

Several members of the CJAM team volunteer their time enthusiastically to fundraise or help local and national charities and groups close to their hearts.

These range from helping out weekly at Great Cornard park run and hosting tea parties for Contact the Elderly groups to taking turns as collectors for Marie Curie. Managing Director Christine Joyce is treasurer for her local village association and several team members including Christine run Vintage Villagers, arranging an annual Christmas party for seniors.

In 2016 and 2017 a CJAM team of ladies ran Colchester’s Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Employees, workplace and sustainability

CJAM is an equal opportunities employer with regard to race, gender, age or disability, and offers flexible working with many members of staff benefiting from working non-core hours to suit their circumstances.

Our offices near Colchester offer employees a light-filled working environment with views of the Essex countryside and the opportunity for energising walks from the doorstep. Celebrating success and achievements is part of the CJAM culture and it’s no coincidence that many at CJAM are loyal employees of many years’ standing.

With a low paper approach to business, our waste is minimal and what we do produce is recycled along with separated kitchen waste.

Customers and suppliers

Where feasible, CJAM supports CSR throughout the supply chain selecting local printers and suppliers, such as caterers and event venues, that follow our ethos.

Like our employees, many of our clients are also longstanding, retaining CJAM for its honourable business methods which are not only ethical but consistently open, honest and fair.
