Tenth European Association Day hailed a success

More than 300 association executives from around the world took part in a full day of professional development and networking at this month’s 10th IMEX Association Day in Frankfurt. Delegates stepped back from day-to-day business to discuss future strategies and current challenges with their peers and senior industry leaders. The newly designed programme of events featured various ‘deep dive’ and workshop sessions, covering issues such as trends in technology, the meaning of community in the 21st century, managing change and sustainability as a driver for success.

Delegates heard contributions from 24 speakers, including CEOs and Executive Directors of some of Europe and America’s largest associations, and were also offered the opportunity to attend an ‘Ask the Expert’ clinic for free advice on VAT issues. In line with the growing focus on emerging markets, one of the most popular sessions of the day addressed the challenge of penetrating the Chinese market.

The ‘Keys to Success in China’ discussion acknowledged that China is unlike any other destination, and presents unique cultural and governmental challenges. The session covered many important practical issues of dealing with Chinese companies, together with more subtle considerations such as cultural difference, language and managing expectations.

The next IMEX conference will take place 21st – 23rd May 2013. For further information, or to view this year’s programme of events, please visit IMEX-Frankfurt
