Generating success

The annual conference for AMPS (The Association of Manufacturers and Suppliers of Power Systems and ancillary equipment) took place on Thursday 9 March, organised by CJAM.

‘Generating a Worldwide Difference’ was held at One George Street, the prestigious Westminster address, which is the headquarters of the Institution of Civil Engineers.

More than 150 delegates attended the day event, which was kindly sponsored by Scania UK, Volvo Penta, KTR and MeccAlte.

Proceedings opened with a video created by CJAM in partnership with Offshoot Films featuring two budding engineers, eight-year-old Arnav and his sister Mihika, five, discussing their recent inventions which won them Primary Engineer Leaders Awards.

Inspiring presentations were given by a line-up of high quality speakers on varied industry topics as well as Roger Brown of WaterAid, Explorer and Adventurer Tori James, and eminent science technology speaker Angela Lamont.

Lisa Dalton, Associations Account Director, said: “The conference was well attended with an excellent and well-received speaker programme.

“The extraordinary talents of Arnav and Mihik, relayed on the video, was enthusiastically received by the audience just a week before The Big Bang, UK Young Scientists and Engineers Fair. It provided great optimism for the future of engineering and demonstrated to members, education influencers and the broader public that there are very capable and interested youngsters in schools eager to learn more about the industry.”

Reflecting on the conference, delegates commented: ‘Congratulations on another excellent event CJAM and thank you for your hospitality – a most constructive day’.
